Three devices,
each with its own purpose
A laser is not a treatment but a device. Which treatment it is used for depends on what you want to achieve.
The Fotona TimeWalker is a laser working at several depths, from a superficial peel to deep in the dermis. One device, a range of protocols: Fotona 4D for skin ageing, Fotona Scar Repair on scars, Fotona Resurfacing for pores and texture, and NightLase against snoring.
Candela's GentleMax Pro is the laser for hair removal. It aims at the pigment in the hair root and cools the skin around it, with two wavelengths for every skin type.
Candela's Nordlys is not a laser but IPL: intense pulsed light. A laser emits one wavelength, IPL a band. So it hits several things at once: redness, visible vessels and surface pigment. On average it goes less deep than a laser.

Your skin first,
then the settings
A laser is only as good as its settings, and you choose those for the skin in front of you.
For laser hair removal we first establish your skin type on the Fitzpatrick scale, from I to VI. From that follows which wavelength is most suitable, alexandrite or Nd:YAG, and which settings we work with.
With laser hair removal you apply factor 50 throughout the course to whatever gets sun, and if your skin is tanned we schedule it later.
Every first appointment starts with an intake. We look at your skin and then say which treatment fits. If we treat in the same appointment, the intake fee is waived and you only pay for the treatment.

Laser almost always works in a series. How many sessions you need, you hear after the intake.

Then you book a treatment on advice. We reserve at most two hours for that: the intake, and then at least an hour to treat. If treating is safe at that moment and you want it, we do the first laser treatment in the same appointment.
What the intake costs
If you are treated in the same appointment, the intake fee is waived and you pay only for the treatment. If the treatment does not go ahead, the intake costs € 50. A separate intake without treatment lasts at most 30 minutes and always costs € 50.

Which lasers do you have?

What is the difference between laser and IPL?

Can laser hair removal be done on dark skin?
Yes. Dark hair on every skin colour is possible, with the right wavelength. We first establish your skin type on the Fitzpatrick scale and choose the wavelength from that, alexandrite or Nd:YAG.
Who does the laser hair removal?
At our clinic, the laser specialists and the skin therapists do the laser hair removal.
Do I need recovery time after a laser treatment?
That depends on the treatment. After laser hair removal you are red for a few hours, sometimes with bumps around the hair follicles. After Fotona 4D red and warm for a few hours to a day, after Fotona Scar Repair red for one to several days. After IPL you are usually red for a few hours.
How many sessions do I need?
Laser almost always works in a series. Laser hair removal usually six to ten, depending on zone and skin type. IPL for pigmentation or redness three to six, four weeks apart. Fotona Scar Repair usually three to six, four to six weeks apart.
Can I have laser treatment in summer?
With laser hair removal you apply factor 50 throughout the course to whatever gets sun, and if your skin is tanned we schedule it later.
Is laser hair removal possible during pregnancy?
We discuss that case by case, and usually we wait until afterwards. There is no research showing harm, but there is no research showing safety either, and on top of that hair growth changes with the hormones anyway. Say so when booking and we choose the moment together.
