VGZ:
where to find it.

We cannot see what is in your policy, and we cannot promise anything on behalf of VGZ. What we can do is tell you exactly where to find the answer and which condition sits in it most often.

Amounts are not given here. They change per year and per package, and with money, wrong is worse than absent.

With VGZ itself

VGZ puts acne, hair removal and camouflage therapy under one heading, skin treatments. Logging in with DigiD shows what is in your package.

To VGZ

This reference was checked in September 2026. What is written there always takes precedence over what is written here.

Amounts and package names are deliberately left out.

The catch

Where it gets stuck

With VGZ you get a budget per calendar year that you divide across acne, camouflage and hair removal together. What you spend on one comes off the other.

This is not the amount but the condition, and that is deliberate: a condition changes far less often than a maximum, and it is usually the reason a claim is refused.

The therapist

What VGZ
asks of us

On the skin treatments page VGZ states no separate registration requirement for the skin therapist. What it does state is that a referral from your GP is needed if it runs through the dermatologist.

This is the part we can check for you. Just ask before you book and we will say whether we meet this requirement.

Looking it up yourself

This is how you reach your own amount

Three steps, and you have the amount that belongs to your policy. We cannot look it up for you: what is in your package only you can see, behind your own login.

  1. Step 1

Open the skin treatments page; VGZ puts acne, camouflage therapy and hair removal together there.

  2. Step 2

Log in to Mijn VGZ with your DigiD. It says what is in your package and how much of it you have used this year.

  3. Step 3

Watch that second figure: the budget is shared, so what you spend on one comes off the other.

What to ask them

The questions that at VGZ matter

Below is what VGZ publishes about it themselves. Take it with you when you call and check it for your policy: what holds for one package need not hold for another.

  • Do I need a referral?

If it runs through the dermatologist, your GP refers you. For the skin therapist under the supplementary policy VGZ does not state that requirement separately; check it in your own policy conditions.

  • Do I share this budget with anything else?

Yes. VGZ puts acne, camouflage therapy and hair removal under one heading, skin treatments, with one budget per calendar year. What you spend on one comes off the other, so ask as well how much of it you have used this year.

  • Does this come out of my excess?

With cover from the supplementary insurance, no. The excess belongs to the basic insurance. Many people put care off because they confuse the two.

Before you call

One question comes before this.

Is there a medical reason for your concern? Without that reason no insurer covers anything, and that includes VGZ ; for most of what we do, that is the answer.

The whole route, with what happens when the answer is no
What we can do

An invoice
that is right.

We put on your invoice exactly what was done and by whom, so that you can submit it. If VGZ asks for a registration number or for the therapist's qualification, you get that from us. Do call before you book: that saves you a refusal afterwards.

What we do not do is claim directly or promise that something will be covered. That conversation you have with your insurer, and we would have to guess the answer.

Other insurers

Are you not with
VGZ?

Is your insurer not listed? The four questions above work everywhere, because they are about conditions every insurer applies.
