What it does

Where it lands

SupErficial takes a thin layer off the horny layer with short pulses. That is the same idea as with a chemical peel, but with light instead of acid: no agent goes onto your skin that has to take effect and the depth can be steered per pulse. The skin underneath has its turn sooner, which makes it smoother and lets it reflect light better.

The proportions are schematic; the depths beside them are not. Usual values for facial skin. The thickness differs per place on the body; on the back the dermis is a multiple of this. How deep we work in your case depends on the setting the therapist chooses.

In the appointment

What happens,
in order.

Every treatment starts with cleansing, and that is done by hand. Make-up and sebum come off and the therapist checks that everything is gone, because a device or an active ingredient that works on a layer never reaches your skin.

Clean and protected
Make-up off and protective goggles on. The skin is briefly cooled.
Layer by layer
The therapist works in strips across your face and decides per area how deep the peel goes.
Straight on
The skin is slightly red for a few hours. Sun protection belongs with the days after.

What you notice in the chair

Every pulse feels like a short warm tap. It goes quickly and most people find it manageable.

Afterwards your skin is pink and feels tight. That fades within a few hours and the next day your skin is visibly smoother.

What is the difference from a chemical peel?

With a chemical peel an agent does the work and the working time decides the depth. Here light does the work and the therapist sets the depth per pulse.

Is this possible just before an occasion?

Count on a few hours of redness. The day before is usually manageable; the same day is tight.

What does it cost?

That depends on the area and on whether you have it separately or as part of 4D. We establish that at the intake.

How long does an appointment take?

Allow 60 minutes at the clinic. That is the time reserved for you in the calendar, including the cleansing beforehand.

How much recovery time do I need?

A few hours slightly red. Make-up is usually fine again the next day.

How often do I need to come?

Start with a skin analysis

The therapist looks at your skin, measures with the EVE-M and establishes what suits you. You hear straight away how many sessions it involves and what it costs. If you are treated in the same appointment, the intake fee is waived.
