What it does

Where it lands

With SmoothLiftin the laser works from the inside of your mouth. The mucous membrane of the cheek lies flat against the tissue around your mouth and your nasolabial folds, and from that side the area can be reached without the outer layer of skin being touched. The heat contracts existing collagen and sets the production of new collagen going.

The proportions are schematic; the depths beside them are not. Usual values for facial skin. The thickness differs per place on the body; on the back the dermis is a multiple of this. How deep we work in your case depends on the setting the therapist chooses.

In the appointment

What happens,
in order.

Every treatment starts with cleansing, and that is done by hand. Make-up and sebum come off and the therapist checks that everything is gone, because a device or an active ingredient that works on a layer never reaches your skin.

Mouth open
The handpiece goes against the inside of your cheek. You are given protective goggles, even though the laser works inside.
Heat in passes
The therapist works in strips across the mucous membrane. It feels warm and the warmth rises to just short of uncomfortable.
Straight on
There is nothing to see on the outside, so you carry straight on with your day.

How it feels

What you notice in the chair

You lie back with your mouth open and the handpiece goes against the inside of your cheek. What you feel is warmth rising, and the therapist asks along the way how warm it feels.

Afterwards there is nothing to see on the outside. You can eat and drink normally; some people find the mouth feels somewhat dry for the first few hours.

Does a laser in your mouth really work on your skin?

The mucous membrane lies flat against the tissue of your midface. So the heat reaches the layer where collagen sits, without the outer layer of skin being touched.

Does it hurt?

It is warm and takes getting used to, but it does not hurt. No anaesthetic is involved.

What does it cost?

That depends on the number of sessions that suits you, and we establish that at the intake.

How much recovery time do I need?

None. You walk straight out with it and there is nothing to see on the outside.

How often do I need to come?

Usually a series, with a few weeks in between. Also available separately as part of Fotona 4D.

Start with a skin analysis

The therapist looks at your skin, measures with the EVE-M and establishes what suits you. You hear straight away how many sessions it involves and what it costs. If you are treated in the same appointment, the intake fee is waived.
