Microneedling for stretch marks

Stretch marks are tears in the dermis formed from within because the skin was stretched faster than it could grow with. The colour tells you how old they are, and that age decides what there is left to gain. We do the same treatment with the Dermapen 4 as well; which pen it becomes is chosen by the therapist per area.

The mechanism

Why this here does about it

Fresh stretch marks are red or purple: vessels still run through them and the tissue is still at work. In that phase the skin responds best to a prompt, because the healing is still going and you push it one way.

White stretch marks have run their course. The tissue is thinner by then and there is little pigment in it, and that does not come back. What can happen is that the texture improves: the marks become less deep and the edge less sharp, so that they stand out less.

In both cases needling gets new collagen going in the layer where the tear sits. With red stretch marks that yields more than with white ones, and you ought to know that difference before starting a series.

The approach

What is goes differently than usual

  • Deeper than on the face

The skin on the stomach, hips and thighs is thicker. The depth is tuned to that and differs per area.

  • Large areas, a longer appointment

Stretch marks are rarely in one place. Count on a longer session than a facial treatment.

  • Six to eight sessions

With four to six weeks in between. On the body, healing goes more slowly than on the face.

What you can expect

What it gives you

Less deep stretch marks with a more even surface. With red stretch marks, often less colour difference too. What does not happen is that they disappear: the scar stays, it draws the eye less.

How often
A series of three to six, with four to six weeks in between.
Recovery time
One to three days red, like a strong sun flush.

€ 180
When not

When you would choose something else

  • White stretch marks respond less than red ones. That is not a setting that can be changed; it is what there is left to repair.
  • During pregnancy and breastfeeding we do not treat.
  • On freshly tanned skin we wait, on the body too.
Everything about this concern
Frequently asked questions

What people asked about this.

Less well than on red ones. The texture can improve so that they stand out less, but the colour does not come back. At the intake we look at which of the two you have, because that decides whether it is worth it.

No. We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, not on the body either.

The first step

Whether this suits you,
your skin will show.

Everything above applies to this concern in general. What is going on with you and whether this is the right route is established by the therapist at the skin consultation. If the answer is no, you hear that too.
