Nordlys IPL for couperose
A visible vessel is a blood vessel that has become wider than it should be and no longer closes on its own. Light can close it, and then your body clears it away. That is the whole mechanism.
Why this here does about it
The Nordlys light is absorbed by the red in the blood, and not by the skin around it. So exactly the vessel heats up and the rest stays cool.
That heat makes the wall of the vessel collapse. Blood can no longer pass through and the body breaks it down in the weeks after. What you see after that is ordinary skin, because that vessel is gone.
Straight after the treatment a vessel can be darker instead. That belongs: it is the sign that it has been hit, and it fades in the days after.
What is goes differently than usual
A filter for the thickness of the vessel
A fine vein on the cheek asks for a different setting than a thicker vessel by the nostril. The therapist chooses the filter accordingly.
Separate vessels precisely, redness across the area
With a few visible veins the work is done vessel by vessel. With an area that is structurally red the light goes across the whole area.
Three to six, with four weeks in between
Not everything responds at once, and the time in between is needed to see what has gone.
What it gives you
Visibly fewer vessels and a calmer colour. What has gone does not come back: that vessel no longer exists. New ones can appear elsewhere, because the disposition that made them does not change.
- How often
- A series of three to six, with four weeks in between.
- Recovery time
- A few hours red, and the treated vessels are darker at first before they fade.

When you would choose something else
- This does not cure the predisposition. Anyone who forms vessels easily keeps doing so; maintenance belongs with it.
- On tanned skin it is not possible: the light seeks colour, and then it hits the tanned skin too.
- With a red nose that is thickening and becoming bumpy, a doctor should take a look.
What people asked about this.
The treated vessels do not; they have been cleared away. New ones can appear, because what caused them does not change. For most people that means a session every year or two to keep it up.
Every flash feels like a short flick with an elastic band. A cool gel goes on and you are given goggles, because you see the light through your eyelids as well.
What we Nordlys IPL for redness and vessels use it for
Whether this suits you,
your skin will show.
Everything above applies to this concern in general. What is going on with you and whether this is the right route is established by the therapist at the skin consultation. If the answer is no, you hear that too.
