Laser against snoring. The soft palate becomes firmer, with no surgery and no mouthguard.

What it does

What it gives you

The soft palate and the tissue at the back of your mouth are heated in a controlled way in a series of pulses. So the tissue contracts and vibrates less with the airflow, and it is that vibration that makes the sound called snoring. Nothing is cut and nothing is left behind.

In the appointment

What happens,
in order.

Every treatment starts with cleansing, and that is done by hand. Make-up and sebum come off and the therapist checks that everything is gone, because a device or an active ingredient that works on a layer never reaches your skin.

  1. Look first at where the sound sits

Not every snoring sound comes from the soft palate. That decides whether this gives you anything.

  2. Pulses on the palate

In a fixed pattern across the tissue, in about half an hour. You are sitting up and fully conscious.

  3. Three times, with weeks in between

The tissue tightens between sessions. After the third you know what it does for you.

NightLase, during the treatment

How it feels

What you notice in the chair

This treatment works on your palate and not on your skin. Your mouth stays open with a retractor and the laser passes over it in three or four passes.

It is warm and takes getting used to, but it does not hurt. No blade and no anaesthetic is involved.

Afterwards you can eat and drink normally. Some people have a slightly dry throat for a day.

What it is for

What this treatment is meant for

On the left where this treatment works well, on the right when another treatment does more for you.

It works well for
  • Works without cutting, without needles and without anything you have to wear at night
  • You can eat, talk and work normally straight afterwards
  • Can be repeated when the effect fades
For this you choose something else
  • With breathing pauses, a sleep study through a doctor comes first
  • The tissue gives way again after a while, so you repeat it
  • If the sound comes from somewhere else, a doctor takes a look

About nightlase

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

You feel warmth at the back of your mouth. No anaesthetic is involved and nothing is cut.

Does it work for sleep apnoea too?

This is not a treatment for that. If pauses in breathing have been reported, or you are unusually sleepy during the day, then a sleep study through your GP comes first. Once you know what is going on, we look at what we can do.

How long does it last?

That differs per person and it is not permanent. We agree beforehand when we look again.

How long does an appointment take?

Allow 30 minutes at the clinic. That is the time reserved for you in the calendar, including the cleansing beforehand.

How much recovery time do I need?

After NightLase you can eat and talk normally. Some people feel a slight scratching in the throat for a while.

How often do I need to come?

A series of three, with about three weeks in between. The effect builds across that series and is not permanent; repeating after a while belongs with it.

The first appointment

Start with a skin analysis

The therapist looks at your skin, measures with the EVE-M and establishes what suits you. You hear straight away how many sessions it involves and what it costs. If you are treated in the same appointment, the intake fee is waived.
